Karl Frederick Mattson is an image-based artist living and working in the Hudson Valley of New York. He quietly uses pictures, video, and ephemera to study overlooked nuances of people and the environment.
Karl received a BFA in Photography with a minor in Printmaking from the Hartford Art School in 2014. He currently manages the equipment and analog facilities of the Photography Program at Bard College, and occasionally still works as an art handler, lighting designer, and time-based media technician for several large-scale art museums throughout the Northeast.
Furthermore, Karl owns and operates 542films, a video production company and videotape digitization service. To learn more, please visit the 542films website.
